In a bold move to combine cultural diplomacy with skill development, the Europe India Centre for Business and Industry (EICBI) is set to host a unique initiative in London— “Bridging Indian & UK Cultures Through Skills – Focus on the Beauty Sector.” Central to this effort is a live Indian Bridal Makeup Masterclass, scheduled for Saturday, 12th July 2025, in Stratford, London.
This masterclass, curated in collaboration with Face Palette Makeup Academy, brings to the UK one of India’s leading voices in bridal artistry—Lekshmi Menon FRSA, a respected trainer and entrepreneur known for her work empowering women through makeup education. With thousands of students trained under her leadership in Kerala and beyond, Mrs. Menon is set to share the traditional techniques, cultural nuances, and modern adaptations of South Indian bridal makeup with a UK audience.
What sets this initiative apart is its focus on skills exchange as a form of cultural bridging. In a time when the UK hosts a growing number of Indian weddings, there is rising demand for makeup professionals who understand Indian skin tones, ceremonial traditions, and bridal aesthetics. This session not only provides participants with hands-on learning but also opens pathways for professional development and entrepreneurship in the beauty industry.
Sujit S Nair, Chairman of EICBI, remarked: " Our goal is to empower women while deepening India–UK relations through practical, creative, and market-relevant skills. The beauty sector is an ideal space to do that—it’s personal, cultural, and global.”
The event also seeks to bring together local businesses and cultural partners. EICBI is currently engaging with UK-based beauty councils, community organisations, and brands in sarees, jewellery, and bridal fashion to participate in the masterclass as collaborators or partners. Attendees will receive a certificate of participation and access to an emerging community of artists and entrepreneurs focused on cross-cultural excellence in beauty.
