India’s active participation at Cyprus Forum 2025 has marked an important milestone in the evolving diplomatic and strategic partnership between Cyprus and India. The event highlighted India’s vision for global connectivity through the India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) and reinforced the shared commitment of both nations to sustainable development, transparent governance, and rule-based international cooperation.

Indian High Commissioner’s Remarks: Transformational Connectivity
At Cyprus Forum 2025 in Nicosia, Indian High Commissioner Manish emphasized the profound strategic and economic significance of the IMEC initiative. His remarks, as officially confirmed, focused on how the corridor will reduce logistics costs, cut transport times, and create new trade pathways linking Asia, the Gulf, and Europe. He stressed Cyprus’s role as India’s natural gateway into Europe, outlining opportunities for cooperation in shipping, renewable energy (including green hydrogen), digital trade facilitation, financial services, and education. The High Commissioner further underscored both countries’ commitment to rules-based international cooperation, especially in green energy, digital integration, and inclusive growth.

IMEC: A Multi-Nodal Catalyst for Global Trade
The India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor, presented at the G20 Summit in New Delhi, is a major international initiative positioned to transform trade logistics across three continents. The corridor exemplifies the principle of transparent, inclusive growth and is recognized as a strategic development by both Cyprus and India. Their shared vision centers on connecting supply chains, boosting trade capacity, and enhancing mutual prosperity while supporting the United Nations’ frameworks for navigation and maritime rights.
Both leaders regard IMEC as a catalyst for constructive regional cooperation. Cyprus’s maritime position and its evolving role as a financial and innovation hub are central to the partnership, positioning the island nation as a bridge between Europe and Asia.
