The MEA reported that the consultations covered cooperation in political affairs, trade and investment, defence, and science and technology.

Led by Secretary (West) Sibi George and State Secretary Boglárka Illés, the meeting provided an opportunity to take stock of ongoing collaboration under established mechanisms and to maintain continuity of dialogue at the senior official level.

This round formed part of the regular institutional exchanges through which India and Hungary manage and advance their bilateral agenda.

As highlighted in official communication, the discussions also focused on sectoral cooperation in green energy, water management, pharmaceuticals and space.

The two sides further addressed engagement in sports, connectivity, and educational and cultural ties. By encompassing both high-technology domains and people-centred areas, the consultations reflected a comprehensive approach to strengthening economic linkages and societal exchanges between the two countries.

The official readout did not list new agreements or specific decisions, concentrating instead on reviewing existing cooperation and sharing assessments on current developments.

Institutional Dialogue and Historical Context

MEA’s brief on India–Hungary relations notes that the two countries maintain an institutionalised framework of engagement, including Foreign Office Consultations and the Indo-Hungary Joint Committee on Economic Cooperation, whose sixth session was held in Budapest in October 2022. The previous, 10th round of Foreign Office Consultations took place on 19 January 2021 in Budapest, underscoring the continuity of this mechanism. MEA characterises India–Hungary relations as close, multifaceted and stable, having withstood political and economic changes and sustained through regular high-level visits and structured dialogue across political, economic, cultural and multilateral spheres.
