Shri Ravi Shankar: Profile

Shri Ravi Shankar is a career diplomat belonging to the 1995 batch of the Indian Foreign Service. He holds a Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (1993) and an MBA in Finance and Marketing from the Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi.

Over the course of his diplomatic career, he has served at Indian missions in Paris, Tunis, Hanoi and Rome, including a tenure as Deputy Chief of Mission in Rome. In January 2017, he assumed charge as India’s High Commissioner to Uganda, where he represented India in bilateral engagements. Prior to his current appointment, he has been serving as Ambassador of India to Ukraine.

Across these assignments, Shri Ravi Shankar has been engaged in managing India’s diplomatic relations and cooperation frameworks across Europe and Africa. He is married to Mrs. Akanksha Shankar, and the couple has two children.
