UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer unveiled “Extract”, an AI-powered assistant developed with Google to modernize and streamline planning approvals in councils across the UK. Starmer declared: “With Extract, we’re harnessing the power of AI to help planning officers cut red tape, speed up decisions, and unlock the new homes for hard-working people… a bold step forward.” His announcement of the £187 million TechFirst programme, aimed at embedding AI and digital skills into the UK’s education system, reflects a national vision to equip citizens for the tech-driven future.
