The visit of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom to India has culminated in several key outcomes, fostering closer collaboration between the two nations across technology, education, trade, climate, health, and research sectors.

Technology and Innovation
India and the United Kingdom have agreed to establish the India-UK Connectivity and Innovation Centre, which is designed to bolster new-age partnerships in research, communication, and digital solutions. A related milestone is the foundation of the India-UK Joint Centre for AI, aiming to enable collaboration in artificial intelligence for social and economic advancement in both countries.
The launch of Phase II of the UK-India Critical Minerals Supply Chain Observatory, alongside a new satellite campus at IIT-ISM Dhanbad, is expected to enhance joint understanding of critical mineral demands and advance knowledge collaboration. Additionally, the Critical Minerals Industry Guild is being established to secure resilient supply chains and promote green technologies, reflecting the nations’ shared sustainability priorities.
Education
A Letter of Intent was formally handed over for opening a campus of Lancaster University in Bengaluru, representing a step forward for global education links and student exchange. The visit also brought in-principle approval for the opening of a campus of the University of Surrey in GIFT City, Gujarat, promising international educational opportunities and skill development prospects for Indian students.
Trade and Investment
The inaugural meeting of the reconstituted India-UK CEO Forum was held, creating a renewed platform for business leaders to exchange ideas and encourage mutual investment. The India-UK Joint Economic Trade Committee (JETCO) was reset, and it will guide the implementation of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), expected to drive economic growth and support job creation in both countries.

A new joint investment was announced in the Climate Technology Startup Fund, instituted through a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the UK and the State Bank of India. This strategic initiative is poised to empower innovative entrepreneurs in sectors like climate technology and artificial intelligence, facilitating impactful startups with access to resources and mentorship.
Climate, Health, and Research
The visit saw the launch of Phase-III of the Bio-Medical Research Career Program, targeting capacity-building in life sciences and collaborative research. The establishment of an Offshore Wind Taskforce underscores a commitment to renewable energy and sustainable development, with collaboration anticipated for offshore wind capabilities and expertise.
Finally, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the United Kingdom’s National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) signed a Letter of Intent on Health Research, paving the way for evidence-based, high-impact medical research cooperation between the two nations.
