Romania's National Day was commemorated in New Delhi on November 26, 2025, with a formal gathering that underscored the enduring bonds between India and Romania. The event brought together dignitaries, diplomats, and members of the Indian and international communities, also business figures like Mr Sujit S Nair, Chairman of Europe India Centre for Business and Industry.


High-Level Indian Representation

The celebration was attended by Shri Sibi George, Secretary (West) at India's Ministry of External Affairs, reflecting the significance India attaches to its relationship with Romania. His participation reaffirmed the commitment to longstanding India-Romania partnership and further strengthening cooperation in new areas of mutual interest.

Ambassador's Leadership

H.E. Sena Latif, Ambassador of Romania to India, Nepal and Bangladesh, led the embassy's efforts in organizing the occasion. Latif took office in November 2024 and brings extensive diplomatic experience spanning two decades, with previous postings in Paris, Buenos Aires, and Bogota.


Decades of Diplomatic Partnership

India and Romania have maintained warm and friendly relations since establishing diplomatic ties in 1948, raising them to Ambassadorial level in 1970. The two countries celebrated 75 years of diplomatic relations in 2023, marked by consistent support on multilateral issues and collaboration at the United Nations and other international forums.​


Celebration of Shared Values

The Romanian National Day event provided an opportunity to celebrate the cultural and diplomatic achievements that have characterised the India-Romania relationship. Both nations continue to demonstrate shared commitment to international peace, cooperation, and mutual development.


The gathering in New Delhi underscored the positive trajectory of India-Romania relations. With continued engagement at political, economic, cultural, and people-to-people levels, the partnership is positioned for further deepening and expansion in areas of mutual interest and benefit.
