Focus on Defence Industrial Co-operation

During the visit, Mr Singh is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius. Discussions will focus on enhancing defence industrial collaboration, strengthening military-to-military engagements, and exploring opportunities in emerging domains such as cyber security, artificial intelligence, and drones. A Defence Industrial Co‑operation Roadmap and an Implementing Arrangement for Co‑operation in UN Peacekeeping Operations Training are likely to be signed in the presence of both ministers.

Engagement with German Defence Industry

The Defence Minister is also expected to meet key representatives of the German defence industry. These interactions will seek to promote joint development and co‑production, in line with India’s Make‑in‑India initiative in the defence sector. The Ministry has indicated that such engagement is aimed at creating mutually beneficial partnerships and expanding the scope of bilateral projects.

Strengthening a Wider Strategic Partnership

India and Germany share a multifaceted strategic partnership anchored in democratic values, respect for the rule of law, and a shared commitment to a rules-based international order. Defence and security co‑operation has emerged as an important pillar of this relationship in recent years, complementing ties in trade, technology, and green development.

The upcoming visit by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is therefore positioned as a step towards further deepening bilateral defence ties while contributing to regional and global peace, stability, and prosperity.
