British High Commissioner Lindy Cameron engaged in productive discussions with Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on September 18, 2025, at the Chief Minister's residence in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral ties between the UK and Telangana across multiple sectors including education, technology, pharmaceuticals, and sustainable development.
Educational Cooperation and Scholarship Initiatives
A significant outcome of the discussions was the agreement to enhance educational partnerships. The UK agreed to provide the prestigious Chevening Scholarship to meritorious students from Telangana on a co-funding basis. High Commissioner Cameron stated that the UK government is ready to extend cooperation in education and technology.
The British government also expressed willingness to provide training to government teachers and professors in Telangana State. Chief Minister Reddy briefed the High Commissioner on the draft of Telangana's upcoming education policy during the meeting.
The Chief Minister requested that UK universities operate from Hyderabad to benefit students pursuing higher education abroad. This proposal aims to provide convenience for Telangana students studying in UK universities by establishing local campus operations.

Investment Opportunities in Key Sectors
Chief Minister Reddy urged British companies to join as partners in the Musi Rejuvenation project, which is being undertaken on a grand scale to promote Hyderabad as one of the best living cities in the world. The Chief Minister sought British investment in multiple sectors including pharmaceuticals, electric vehicles (EV sector), and Future City development.
The discussions also covered investment opportunities in Global Capability Centers (GCC), knowledge sectors, and academic initiatives. Chief Minister Reddy emphasized the state government's commitment to providing world-class infrastructure and a business-friendly ecosystem to global investors.
Technology and Innovation Collaboration
High Commissioner Cameron responded positively to the collaboration proposals, assuring that the UK government is ready to extend cooperation particularly in the fields of education and technology. The discussions touched upon emerging sectors such as green energy, climate action, and sustainable urban development.
The Chief Minister briefed the High Commissioner on the state government's groundbreaking initiatives to bolster the manufacturing industry and investment prospects in Telangana. Both sides agreed to explore collaborative opportunities in these emerging sectors in the near future.
High-Level Participation
The meeting was attended by several senior officials including Deputy High Commissioner Hyderabad Gareth Wynn Owen, Political Economy Advisor Nalini Raghuram, and Chief Minister's Special Secretaries Ajith Reddy and Vishnu Vardhan Reddy. This high-level participation demonstrated the importance both sides place on strengthening UK-Telangana relations.
The discussions represent a continuation of the broader UK-India partnership framework, with Telangana positioning itself as a key destination for British investment and collaboration in technology, education, and sustainable development initiatives.
